A senior officer who jumped to the help of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a blade-wielder received the Monarch's Honor for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a knife to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver after a traffic accident in Whalley Range in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
